Greetings!
Over the last few weeks nothing of much significance happened which I cited as a good thing by noting that “ordinary people [would] once again [be] able to enjoy their lives without the noisy interruption of a clumsy and intrusive government.”
With Biden’s latest political disaster all that went up in smoke.
Ukraine has now been invaded by Russia because of the current administration’s inability to deter a credible foreign policy threat.
What happened here, however, should come as no surprise. Obama once ridiculed Mitt Romney for saying Russia is our biggest threat and many of his actions let Russia off the hook. Biden is clearly following Obama’s “lead through defeat” approach to foreign policy.
Other news: Ukraine, Russia, and the Energy Wars
The Biden administration allowed war between Russia and Ukraine to happen on his watch, in large part, because of his commitment to “green energy.”
Instead of working with Germany to create a liquified natural gas pipeline between their country and ours, the Biden administration has allowed Germany to continue to import natural gas from Russia when they could be getting it from us.
Now obviously getting natural gas from us wouldn’t immediate solution to what’s going on now between Russia, Ukraine, and Germany.
But the administration never even made the attempt to get a deal with Germany to distribute natural gas. Likewise the administration never rebuked Germany for abandoning nuclear or its naive and costly commitment to “green energy” through its energiewiende program. Since the implementation of that program Germany’s electricity rates have doubled since the 2000s.
If Biden wasn’t hamstrung by radical support perhaps he’d be able to call out Germany for their responsibility in the Russia Ukraine war through their reliance on Russian natural gas. Instead he’ll rely on old tropes about price controls and big companies having a monopoly on gas and oil when in reality his failed policies are causing problems both domestically and abroad.
