At the beginning of the week I provided an analysis of Republican politics in three separate pieces while I wrote a fourth piece asking the question “will moms save America from lousy government school?”
The first highlighted the historical/electoral problems that Republicans had historically faced along with justified optimism regarding a new Republican agenda.
The second piece discussed a stumbling block Republicans face in implementing a more republican agenda -- namely their lack of knowledge about the founders’ original political philosophy contained in The Federalist.
The third piece began to lay out a distinctly republican policy agenda. However, after thinking about it, the single biggest barrier to creating such an agenda might be the mandatory fundraising requirements imposed on members of Congress. These requirements appear to give members of Congress an incentive to set up sweetheart deals for their friends and beneficiaries. This will be discussed in detail in a later post.

Around the Web -- Interesting News Across the Net
I don’t have a single news article for the following recommendation but I can’t recommend the work of Dan Mitchell enough. Dan’s blog “International Liberty” is one of the few windows into the otherwise convoluted world of global economics. Further the gentleman writes in conversational English -- not the abstract jargon that can muck up an otherwise pleasant read. You can find his blog at the link section below.
And that’s about it. There wasn’t much going on that was all that interesting this week. If you live in Pennsylvania though there’s an upcoming gubernatorial debate that will take place on Jan. 5th which could be interesting.
